United Missions Women
United Missions Women is a community of circles who meet together monthly for a time of fellowship, devotion, planning for mission outreaches and prayer.

CIRCLES:
We've become circles of friends each with a God-given mission. Please consider joining a circle!

Hannah: Children's Missions
"I asked the Lord to give me this child, and he has given me my request. Now I am giving him to the Lord, and he will belong to the Lord his whole life."
1 Samuel 1:27-28
Mary: Women's Missions
Elizabeth gave a glad cry and exclaimed to Mary, "You are blessed by God above all other women, and your child is blessed. What an honor this is, that the mother of my Lord should visit me! You are blessed, because you believed that the Lord would do what he said."
Luke 1:42,43,45
Esther: Local Missions
"If you keep quiet at a time like this… you and your people will die. What's more, who can say but that you have been elevated to the palace for just such a time as this."
Esther 4:14
Ruth: Foreign Missions
But Ruth replied, "Don't ask me to leave you and turn back. I will go wherever you go and live wherever you live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God."
Ruth 1:16

"What's in a Name?"
umw3 Historically, this women's ministry has changed names many times over the last 135 years. Dating back to the 1800's, the first ministry was called "Women's Foreign Missionary Society" which became the "Women's Society for World Service" and then the "Women's Society for Christian Service." In the 1970's, the name changed to "United Methodist Women" and that ministry was a vibrant part of the work of our church here at KIUMC. A few years ago, we changed again to ensure that the missions we support are a true representation of how Jesus Christ would want us to minister in His name. Our name changed to the "Ladies of KIUMC" and now, more in line with our purpose, we are "United Missions Women." Although we have a history of name changes, our purpose has never changed. From the beginning, our purpose has always been mission and Christian service.
