We live, work, shop, and do many other things throughout our week, passing hundreds of people who are just like us... mostly focused on the task at hand. This even occurs in our churches; we can attend a certain service, sit in a particular location and never really get to know our "church family.” In scripture we are instructed to gather together, break bread together, encourage one another and be together in community (Acts 20:7; Hebrews 10:24-25; and Matthew 18:20). The “Dinners for Eight” concept is a fun and meaningful way to connect with other people who attend our church. At the Transitions Home Gatherings for Pastor Mark, D48 was mentioned again and again from many that participated in the past… and how much everyone enjoyed it! If you would like to meet new people in our church in a small group setting with a casual, relaxed atmosphere, then you are invited to join! How does D48 work? Groups of eight people meet once a month for four months, in two "terms" per year. The groups will begin in February and again in September; however, you may register at any time and we will do our best to fit you into an existing group. Click here for more information! |
Each group meets monthly for dinner and conversation. Each individual group will determine the time and place of their meeting: in a home, a restaurant, at a park, at a beach... whatever works for the group is fair game! You can cook, order in, eat out, or have a potluck. The idea is to get to know new people and possibly reconnect with some old friendships at KIUMC.
D48 groups are currently underway! If you did not have the opportunity to sign up previously, it's not too late to get involved! You can sign up to be on our "Substitute List" and still get to enjoy all that D48 offers! Questions? Email Annette Potts and Debbie Fogle at D48@kiumc.org. So come and join in as we gather together, break bread, and enjoy meeting some new people in our KIUMC Family! |
